On June 8th from 10am - 2pm, join the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance (NSWA), the Town of Vegreville, and the Agroforestry Woodlot Extension Society (AWES) for a River Revival in Vegreville!
LEARN how native trees and wildflowers improve the riverbank and provide habitat for birds and pollinators. AWES and the NSWA will talk about “Eco-buffer 101”, and “What’s in Your Watershed?”. PLANT an “eco-buffer” of seedlings at our Vegreville demonstration site. (Demonstration provided. Bring gardening gloves and a spade if you have one. Extra spades will be available). CELEBRATE the enhancement of our local river site through family-friendly and kids' activities and refreshments. (Food available for a small cost)
Join the Agroforestry and Woodlot Society in conjunction with the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River at the Flatbush Community Complex on Monday June 17th, 2019 for a day of woodlot management benefits and techniques.
At this workshop private landowners will learn:
Best management practices on forested private lands
How forested lands contribute economically and environmentally
Management to maximize ecological and economic value
Maintenance & restoration leads to healthier woodlots
Plus: Outdoor Field Visits in the afternoon
Join the Agroforestry & Woodlot Extension Society for their 2019 Annual general Meeting being hosted by Big Lakes County at the Joussard Community Hall in Joussard AB. The agenda consists of general business, AWES program updates, Watershed projects, lunch, and a tour with Vanderwell Contractors. Dress for the weather and RSVP in advance.
